End of the Road

GULP!  This is my first entry on the Daily Paintworks site. (Thanks, Carol for the challenge!)  I painted from Carol Marine's reference photo from her trip to Germany. And I painted it three times.  The first was too dark. The second was too psychedelic. And the third was just right.  Now I have to learn how to photograph my paintings (frown). My iPhone photos are too muddy, my camera photos are too light--and despite much experimentation and hair pulling, I'm still waiting for photos that are--well, you guessed it--just right.

  1. I LOVE this painting, the colours are luscious and your ability to show light is impressive.

  2. It's absolutely beautiful! Your talent for shading is so impressive. I LOVE the shadows along the road, as well. Excellent work!

  3. I'm completely blown away! Your strokes are confident and gutsy and yet the result is elegant and sensitive! Lovely. Really. So impressed. Why isn't your work hanging in my house! Can't wait to see more.

  4. I, too, love your painterly strokes! I took a photograph of a scene very much like this in New Brunswick, Canada, many years ago when we were visiting Keillor House. My husband's mother was a Keillor. Your painting brought back some wonderful memories of that trip!
