A pear is more interesting when it's larger than life size, This is 24" x 24. "More than a mouthful.

Oranges on Plaid

I love complimentary color schemes--especially warm colors. This was painted from a photo reference, and painted over several weeks. I'd like to try it again--just wet on wet--to avoid overworking.

Five Pears

Ahh--yellow is still my favorite.. This time, I'm exploring it in a complimentary color scheme. There is a lot of surface texture that's not coming through in the photo. Love that palette knife.

Three Pears

Early snow and freezing temperatures are enough to keep a painter indoors--so still life it is, at least for awhile. I'm working with yellows, because they remind me of sunshine. They're also extremely challenging. Yellow pears today. Lemons tomorrow.

I found this little pitcher at flea market.  It begged

turned out nicely.

I painted this awhile ago and decided to post it, while I'm working
on some landscapes.  This funky little ceramic pitcher is one of
my favorite things--I could do a whole series with it.

Reflections of Summer

I don't know about you, but I could easily eat a half a
watermelon all by myself in one easy sitting.

The painting was made from a reference photo posted by Carole
Marine as one of the Daily Paintworks challenges.  I have since
purchased three watermelons to paint from life, but you
guessed it, I keep eatingmy subject matter before it can make
its way into the studio.

When I paint it, I will entitle it, "Reflections of a GLUTTON."

Pulp & Pith

This is one of my favorite paintings, and one I just sold. I am
very attached, and it will be extremely hard to part with it.  I
think I will paint a juicy replacement today.

Two Lemons

I painted this a while ago, when my friend Katie and I had one
of our art days. She's a very talented illustrator and hilarious, and
I adore her so much, I consider her another "sister."  Art day
consists of, well, art and lots of pizza and beer and rib-splitting
giggles and guffaws over viritually everything.  On this particular
afternoon, it also consisted of lots of whining, from me, about this
particular painting that, despite great effort, was not turning out. 
I received no sympathy from Katie, none at all.  She just kept telling
me to shut up and put it aside for a few days and then look at it
again with fresh eyes.  It took a month to freshen those eyes, but
I now kind of even, sort of like it.  Just wish the photo were as
crisp as the painting.  By the way, visit Katie's website.  Scroll down

fans know her as Deirdre.  I'm an old enough friend to call her by
her AKA.

In the Red

Another submission to the Daily Paintworks Challenge.
This one, called "Paint Your Vegetables" required that you
eat your subject matter (after the painting was finished,
of course.)  Anyone want to share a salad?

Yellow Pepper

While I am working out some landscape painting issues,
I thought I'd take a break and post a little still life I made.
Peppers are so delightfully sensual, don't you think?

Meanwhile, I scanned this painting--much easier than
trying to photograph it--especially with all the rain we
are having.
